Canadian Caving Header

The BC Caver, now in its twentieth year of publication, is the newletter of the British Columbia Speleological Federation (BCSF). There are currently four issues a year. The BCSF is the central organization for caving in British Columbia, coordinating the efforts of many in the fields of conservation, safety, rescue, exploration, education and technical expertise. The newsletter carries articles on all these issues, along with an abundance of trip reports.

Content

The BC Caver covers caving and related activity within British Columbia, but also includes activities of BC cavers outside the province, and - to a lesser extent - information about caving activities in neighbouring provinces and states. Information of general interest to all Canadian cavers, such as equipment reports, changes in law, etc, may also be included.

Articles are particularly sought from the BCSF member groups: Chilliwack River Valley Cavers,Underachievers Caving Club, Northern BC Caving Club, UVic Caving Club, and the Vancouver Island Cave Exploration Group.

Submission of Articles

Deadlines for submission of material are:
  • January 1
  • April 1
  • July 1
  • October 1
Articles may be provided in any form, typed or electronic - though email, appending a file in Word, Wordperfect, or ASCII, is particularly convenient. Photographs and illustrations (particularly surveys) are also sought, but in case of damage or loss, it is recommended that copies of surveys or slides, and prints rather than negatives, are sent. Surveys and photographs should be sent to the editor.

The magazine is not a commercial publication, seeking only to cover its printing and distribution costs, and thus there is no payment for articles or graphics.

Advertising

Advertisements may be accepted, either for their intrinsic information value (particularly if the advertiser is from British Columbia) or for a suitable contribution towards publishing costs. Contact the editor to discuss sizes, costs, etc.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are restricted to members of member groups of the BCSF.

Permission to republish may be granted upon request provided publication and author credit is given and a copy of the publication is forwarded to the Editor.
