Future Endevors

Ian Drummond, designer of the cave radio system, has also developed an interface to allow dependable comunication between the surface cave radio and a VHF radio on the surface. This would allow communication directly to emergency personnel not located at the "incident area". This device has been tested at the developers' caving areas, but will be tested here on the Island in the next while.

The largest obsticle to overcome with this part of the system is not the cave radios, but the surface communication capabilities of the VHF radios. The caving areas of Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia are fairly remote and VHF repeater access is not found in all locations due to elevation and mountain blockages.

more stuff to follow...call it evolving, Rick
